Our History

In its origins the construction company began its first stage from1971 to 1977, there was a great variety of jobs undertaken. The company began by constructing 50 houses in the Noria Alta neighborhood of Guanajuato, Gto. then later remodeling buildings such as the Escuela Normal (Teacher's College) of Guanajuato, constructing commercial offices, and taking on civil works such as water recovery dams, projects at mining companies. Also built roads in the states of Guanajuato and Hidalgo.

In its second stage (1977 to 1983) the company took the name of Constructora Marcocchio S.A. de C.V. , completing jobs such as mining residue reservoirs, access roads, and civil works for several mining companies.

It began to construct highway bridges, it did earth moving for the overlay and construction of roads, and it did the paving of several roads with asphalt covering. From that moment on, the company began to define its role within the construction industry.

On the 14th of March, 1983 the company became Constructora Azacan, S.A. de C.V. in the city of Guanajuato, Gto., focusing its objectives within the area of roadway construction to satisfy the needs of the industry.

In this new period, the company began to complete works such as the San Miguel de Allende – Los Rodriguez Road, the Leon – San Francisco del Rincón Highway (4 lanes) and many other works for the S.C.T. and S.D.U.O.P. (now S.O.P.), such as the Huanimaro – Sn. Diego de la Union –Carr. 57 Highway, the León-Santa Rosa – Manuel Doblado Highway and many other rural roads.

In 1989, it is awarded an important project, the Guanajuato – Silao Highway (4 lanes), which was a significant achievement for the company.

During the next few years it completed works such as the pavement upgrade of the Cuernavaca – Izucar de Matamoros Highway, the Dr. Mora – Cieneguilla Highway, the construction of the San Juan del Río – Xilitla Highway, the laying of concrete asphalt pavement on the Salvatierra – Celaya Highway and the Puerto de Aire – Xichu Road, the paving of the service road parallel to the Federal Celaya – Villagran Highway, the construction of the Santa Catarina – El Chilarito – Atargea Road in the municipalities of Atargea and Santa Catarina, the construction of the Dolores Hidalgo Highway in the municipality of Dolores Hidalgo and the construction of the Libramiento Sur de Celaya Highway in Celaya among many others.

Thanks to its long term scope and more than 2 decades of experience, Azacan has become one of the most important and reputable construction companies in the area of roadway construction in the Bajío region of México (tri-state area of Guanajuato – Querétaro – San Luis Potosí).
